What do you like best about the International Thespian Festival?
I absolutely adore knowing that for a week, I will be surrounded by 3,000 people who are interested and in love with the same things I am. They’re just as quirky and weird as me. No one is afraid to be outgoing. I love that there’s a place for all of us who are so “different” to come and feel accepted.

What advice do you have to Thespians who are looking to become ITO?
First, I would get involved in as many leadership opportunities as you can. Be intentional. Set being an ITO as your goal, and focus everything you do to getting you one step closer. Talk to your director, and have them help you get all the specifics: deadlines, etc. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for help! Talk to the ITO and see what we did to get here.

What got you interested in theatre?
For some reason, it has always seemed like this innate thing for me. There was never a real “defining” moment where I just knew, from that point on, that theatre would be my life. It has just been around, in the back of my mind, for as long as I can remember, and I can’t see myself living without it.

What would you say to a Thespian on the fence about attending the International Thespian Festival 2011?
WHY?! No, just kidding. :) First, I would tell them about all the opportunities available at ITF: the colleges that are in attendance, the scholarship auditions, and the immense amount of workshops and shows. Truly, at ITF, you can learn so much but have THE most amazing time doing it. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll just tell them about all the hotties in attendance. ;)

What is your weirdest "quirk"?:
I can lick my elbow! It is not impossible. And no, I did not turn into a boy. (Thank goodness!) I’m not sure if this really is a quirk, but it sure is weird! (Oh, and also: I discovered that Ariel, the beautiful Region III Representative/mermaid can as well… And we’re both born in February, within two days of each other! Mm, a leetle freaky!)

What are the goals you plan to accomplish this year as an ITO?
As an ITO, I want to focus on three things: Outreach and service, communication, and togetherness. First, outreach and service: I think as Thespians, we all have unique gifts that, if utilized correctly, can make a large impact in our communities and our world. I want to put a great emphasis on giving back- not just of money, but of time, energy, and spirit. Second, communication: With all the technology available to us, we should be the most in-touch society in the world. Why is it that some people still feel out of the loop? I want to stress the importance of passing information along to all Thespians. I also want to be very reachable to answer questions, take suggestions, and get to know my Thespian family worldwide. This brings me to my next point of togetherness. I truly believe that we are a family of actors, dancers, techies, singers, stage managers, directors. We should all be able to truly call each other friends, and it’s my goal to help spread a tight-knit family vibe throughout our Society.

Do you have a favorite role you have played?
This past year, I was privileged to play my favorite part of all time in my favorite musical of all time: Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie. It was the absolute best time I’ve ever had performing. My cast was INCREDIBLE (shout out, Troupe 2971!), and I’m so blessed to have been given such a dream-ortunity! (Yes, I did just make that word up.)

What is a fun fact that most people don't know about you?
I absolutely love alphabetizing things. Even admitting that just then, I feel weird. But honestly: I love putting things in order. My closet and my room? Another story. But all the apps on my iTouch? Alphabetical. The books on my bookshelf? Alphabetical. Icons on my desktop? Alphabetical. Ha I’m a freak!

What is your favorite straight play and/or musical?
Well, if you were paying attention while reading, you would know that Thoroughly Modern Millie is my favorite musical. As far as straight plays go, I absolutely adore Fences and Death Of A Salesman. I can’ t just pick one!

Bio:
Where to start? I guess we’ll go the stereotypical route: Hello! My name is Sarah Davenport. I’m 17, and a senior at Buford High School in Buford, GA. First: Theatre is basically my life. Surprise, I know. I am Vice President of Troupe 2971 (the best!), a Georgia State Student Officer (hi ladies and gent!), and of course International Chair! I thank so much my superdirector, Mrs. Kimberly Staples. I look up to you more than I can describe- this if for you! Random fact: I am lucky enough to have a twin brother- despite the fact that we looking nothing alike. Besides theatre, I absolutely love everything about film and film acting. (If you ever have any questions or just want to talk about it, email/Facebook me!) My life’s motto is: “Life, and life to the full”, and I am in a constant pursuit of having just that. I love God with all of my heart and try to live that out every day. Three defining things about me: I’m super random, more-than-often sarcastic, and love to laugh.
