Wow. Yes, that's how I will start this off, because that's how this whole journey started off. Wow.

First of all, INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN FESTIVAL 2010. The caps lock was definitely necessary. Literally the most amazing experience of my 17 years of existence. Between taking a leadership workshop every morning with 140 (!!!) of the Society's rising leaders to seeing out-of-this-world-talented shows to witnessing a "secret" Lady Gaga danceathon: Every moment was jam-packed with memories I wish to never forget. The people I met have become truly, really great friends. The college audition process is so nerve-racking sometimes, but WELL worth the stress! Highlight of the week?: The last dance, themed Black & White Semi-Formal. It was great seeing so many Thespians dressed up so sharply! In that room, for those two or so hours, everyone was truly just letting loose and having the time of their lives. I cannot wait for everything about International Thespian Festival 2011.

Next, let us talk about ITO. May I first say, I am truly honored to be serving as your Chair for this year. It's going to be one wiiiiild ride, but I'm ready for the challenge. Since being elected, I have sent/received approximately 130 e-mails… Which may not seem like a lot… But in 30 days? That's a good bit. : Just recently, I received an intense packet detailing exactly what my duties and expectations are for this year. I'm not going to lie: It was a leetle overwhelming. My main job? Communication. With that said, I really want to stress the importance of e-mail and Facebook. If you have any comments, questions, concerns, or suggestions, PLEASE, don't hesitate even a second to contact myself, or any of the other ITO for that matter. We are elected under the premise of being the student voice for Thespians worldwide, and need your direct input to fulfill our jobs!

One of my goals as an ITO this year is to increase emphasis on service. I think that with all the talent and passion we contain, we could do something very impactful in this world. I'm not sure what that looks like yet, but I'm looking into different ways to reach out. Maybe hold a clothing drive at Festival, where we encourage people to bring gently worn, old clothes to send to families in need? Could you imagine 3,000 Thespians all donating T-shirts? We could clothe a small town! As things develop in my brain, I'll be sure to let you know. Send me your ideas as well- they really are appreciated!

I hope everyone is looking forward to this coming year as much as I am, and all that it will bring!

Yours,

S
