| What
do you like best about the International Thespian Festival?
The best part of International Thespian Festival is
the opportunity to meet so many Thespians from all around
the world. While State Conferences only include Thespians
from each specific “host” state, the International
Thespian Festival receives Thespians from all over the
place- Dubai, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, amongst
other places! It’s so incredible to be able to
talk with people from these places and learn about their
different experiences where they’re from, while
sharing an intense love for theatre at the same time.
What
advice do you have for Thespians looking to become ITO?
The biggest piece of advice that I have for Thespians
who are looking to be ITO is simple: Be yourself! Don’t
be afraid to throw yourself out there, with all of your
little quirks and talents, and make some new friends!
If you’re not willing to open yourself up to someone
else first, then you can’t expect them to trust
you enough to vote for you! Each and every one of the
ITO this year are incredibly nice, open, and personable
people, and I encourage any future candidate to keep
this in mind when running for International Thespian
Officer.
What
got you interested in theatre?
I’ve had an incredible love and passion for theatre
since Day 1! My dad has his Bachelor’s Degree
in Music and Accompanying from the University of Southern
California, so as soon as I was released from the hospital
after being born he immediately insisted that I was
taken to Broadway touring shows and performances of
the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Ever since then, I’ve
had a huge passion for theatre, dance, vocalization,
and instrumental music. After all, what could possibly
be better than being part of such an incredible society
and group of Thespians?
What
would you say to a Thespian who is on the fence about
attending Internation Thespian Festival 2011?
I would tell them that it’s a once in a lifetime
experience that should definitely not be missed. This
past year at Festival, I met so many incredible people
and made so many great friends, that I wouldn’t
trade my experience there for anything. I want every
single Thespian in the entire world to be able to have
that same feeling of purpose and belonging that I got
at the Festival this year, and would most definitely
encourage anyone and everyone to take the time to go!
What
is your weirdest "quirk"?
This question always stumps me! My weirdest quirk is
probably the fact that I love to organize things. I
know, it sounds super geeky and annoying, but I get
a high sense of satisfaction from putting things in
their proper piles, folders, or places. Don’t
judge me. :)
What
are the goals you plan to achieve this year as an ITO?
The goals that I plan to achieve this year as an International
Thespian Officer include upping publicity for the International
Thespian Festival, as well as educating Thespians across
the world on practical ways to raise money for trips
to Festival, Broadway Cares, or other Troupe Activities.
I want every Thespian in the International Thespian
Society to know more about the International Thespian
Festival, what it stands for, and the International
Thespian Officers who serve to make it a success every
year, which goes along with my publicity goal for Festival
this year. With the fundraising aspect of my overall
goal, I want to incorporate the same strategies that
I teach to Thespians across the world into the International
Thespian Society’s own fundraising methods, making
our fundraisers for Broadway Cares and the ITO more
successful and allowing us as officers to continue to
serve the Society effectively in the future!
Do
you have a favorite role that you have played?
I’ve been so fortunate to play so many incredible
roles in the past, but my favorites are probably Lumiere,
from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, as well as
Leaf Coneybear in the Colorado All State Musical: The
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
What
is a fun fact, that most people don't know, about you?
I absolutely love dogs; I have one White German Shepherd
as well as a Mixed German Shepherd. These puppies are
my life. :)

Bio:
Hi guys! I’m Jeremiah Light, and I’m your
2010-2011 International Thespian Officer: Region 1 Representative!
I’m so excited to serve all of the Thespians out
there for this entire year, and have some really great
ideas for the International Thespian Society and the
International Thespian Festival that I’m ready
to get going over the course of this year. A little
bit about me: I go to Cherokee Trail High School (Troupe
#6971) in Aurora, Colorado, and am an active participant
of several extracurricular activities there. These include:
The International Thespian Society, Colorado State Thespian
Society, Drama Club, Ars Nova (Advanced Jazz Choir),
Tri- M Music Honor Society, Model United Nations, Speech
and Debate, Technical Student Association, National
Honors Society, and Link Crew. I’ve performed
in several of the premier ensembles of Colorado, including
the Rocky Mountain Vocal Jazz Ensemble and, most recently,
the Colorado All State Musical: The 25th Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee. Basically, I love everything that
has anything to do with Theatre, Dance, Vocalization,
or Instrumental Music! Add me on Facebook; I’d
love to hear more about YOU, and your experiences as
a Thespian :). |
