Hola, Thespies! Just a forewarning, I plan on being honest here. I'm not going to hide stuff from you guys. That being said, wow. There's a lot of stuff that swirls around in my mind and this blank page looks very inviting.

Shall we start with theatre? _____. I'll take that as a yes. Getting ITO was very exciting and very scary at the same time. I had a very sudden shock and feeling of 'What have I gotten myself into?' I mean, I'm representing some of the coolest high schoolers in the world and I don't want to mess things up for you. On the other hand, this is very cool. I love the fact that I get to represent you.

Next up on my theatre calendar is "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)." I'm stage managing the show which shall be interesting (it's my first time SM-ing). If you are familiar with the show, you understand the situation I find myself in; there are a lot of prop and costume changes that are vital to the script.

Complete Works is going to be a great warm up for our fall show, "Romeo and Juliet." I am working very hard on an audition piece already. Our show is going to be performed at the Iowa Thespian Festival which puts more stress on the entire company. My school has a lot of very talented actors and actresses as well as a very wise director; I am confident that the casting of "Romeo and Juliet" will be well done.

This upcoming Tuesday we have an Iowa Thespian Board meeting in Grinnell, my town. I really hope that everything goes well and that everyone is ready. Tomorrow, Monday, I am going shopping with one of my directors to get food and stuff. I think we are also going to set up the meeting space. I'm excited!

This blog may be getting long... but, that's okay with me! I am just starting my junior year of high school (yes, I am younger than the other ITO's) and I am starting to think about colleges and all of that very scary stuff. I want to do theatre, that's for sure. But where? So many choices… If you have advice, talk to me on Facebook.

Well, it's getting kind of late here. I am going to write a scene now. Something funny would be fun. Everybody likes comedy, right? Or maybe a collection of serious monologues… Hmm…

Take it easy,

~John~
